Sharing your Power BI Report using a web URL with people without a Power BI account

Would you like to share your Power BI Report with the world using a public link?

Look no further than this method:

  1. First open your Power BI Report in the Power BI Service.
  2. Go to File > Embed report > Publish to web (public).

After a few self-explanatory steps, this will give you a link that you can share with other people, even though they do not have a Power BI account.

This can be useful when you would like to share a project with a future potential client/employer.

Careful though, don’t share private data in this manner!

As a sidenote, I created this dashboard in the past using one of #EnterpriseDNA Data Modeling Workouts. In case you’re interested, you can still find these workouts with a quick web search.

As another sidenote, I am publishing these Power BI Reports to my workspace because I am updating my CV Power BI Report. I am getting rid of my Power BI Pro license for now, and this means that the Power BI Reports that I published to other workspaces than “my workspace” need to be migrated.
