{"id":93,"date":"2023-05-18T08:02:27","date_gmt":"2023-05-18T08:02:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/datadandies.nl\/?p=93"},"modified":"2023-05-18T08:02:27","modified_gmt":"2023-05-18T08:02:27","slug":"goals-of-the-dwh-data-warehouse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/datadandies.nl\/index.php\/2023\/05\/18\/goals-of-the-dwh-data-warehouse\/","title":{"rendered":"Goals of the DWH (Data WareHouse)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Goals<\/strong> of the Data Warehouse according to the book \u201cThe Data Warehouse Toolkit\u201d by Ralph Kimball:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"1\">\n<li>The DWH\/BI system must make information <strong>easily accessible<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li>The DWH\/BI system must present information <strong>consistently<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"3\">\n<li>The DWH\/BI system must <strong>adapt to change<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"4\">\n<li>The DWH\/BI system must present information in a <strong>timely way<\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"5\">\n<li>The DWH\/BI system must be a secure bastion that <strong>protects<\/strong> the information assets.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"6\">\n<li>The DWH\/BI system must serve as the <strong>authoritative and trustworthy<\/strong> foundation for improved decision making.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"7\">\n<li>The business community must <strong>accept<\/strong> the DWH\/BI system to deem it successful.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>I would add to this list:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"8\">\n<li>The DWH\/BI system must contain <strong>all<\/strong> the necessary data to make decisions.
